International Relations, 2016

I am Norwegian and have lived in Norway all my life. I wanted to experience something new and give myself a challenge, so I decided to study in the UK. I was not sure about what to do, but have always been interested in politics and political issues and therefore decided to go with International Studies. I chose the course at Oxford Brookes as it focuses on a wide theoretical lens and engages with many interesting contemporary issues.

Before I started the MA International Relations programme I was studying the International Relations and Politics BA course at Oxford Brookes. I really enjoyed the teaching style and delivery I received throughout my undergraduate degree and this prompted me to stay on and pursue my drive for further education in the same establishment.

I had completed my BA in Human Geography at Exeter University in 2012 and thought I had finished with my formal education! I worked for a couple of years in an administrative role, before realizing that I still wanted to study. The opportunity to challenge myself and return to academia after a break really appealed to me.

I did a Public Relations degree in Russia, before coming to Oxford to improve my English. I fell in love with this beautiful city with its great atmosphere of student life. Oxford is an excellent place to study and to live! This is a small and cosy city with very friendly people and wonderful architecture. I have no words to express atmosphere of this city. It is full of students from all over the world who are highly committed to studying and development. At the same time students are very communicative people and enjoy spending great time with each other in a great range of traditional English pubs and cafés.
